Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray absence proved costly for Denver on Wednesday night

Luka Dončić delivered a dominant performance with 31 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in just three quarters, leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a 120-108 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night.

Both teams were missing key players, with Nikola Jokić (elbow) and Jamal Murray (ankle) sidelined for Denver, while LeBron James (hamstring) and Rui Hachimura (knee) remained out for Los Angeles.

Austin Reaves contributed 22 points and eight assists, helping the Lakers secure their ninth consecutive home win and third straight overall since their 0-4 road trip ended last Friday in Denver.

Denver’s Aaron Gordon led his team with 26 points, but the Lakers took control early, scoring a season-high 46 points in the first quarter. Dončić was on fire, dropping 21 points in the opening period, his highest-scoring quarter this season.

With Los Angeles up by 28 after three quarters, Dončić got extra rest ahead of a busy stretch of five home games in seven days. Bronny James saw action in the final 3:58 of the game.
