The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired outside LB Jaelan Phillips in a deal with the Miami Dolphins.
Miami will get in return next year’s 3rd-round selection.
Jaelan has 26 sacks during his 5 years in the NFL with the Dolphins and must improve the Eagles’ problems with pass rush.
A 1st-round pick by Miami in the 2021 NFL Draft, the linebacker is 1 of multiple Dolphins pass rushers that can be traded by the organization before the deadline that is tomorrow.
Miami (2-7), which dismissed GM Chris Grier at the end of the past week, is also expected to trade both Bradley Chubb and Matthew Judon as they have already started preparing for the next season and want to invest in their future by receiving draft selections via trades.
At the same time, the reigning Super Bowl champ, Philadelphia, also landed CBs Michael Carter II and Jaire Alexander in separate trades a few days ago as they hope to boost their defense that will give them another shot at the title.
With the Eagles, Phillips will work again with defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who was the defensive coordinator of the Dolphins 2 years ago.
