Edwards defeats Covington in ‘very emotional’ victory

Leon Edwards used as motivation all of Colby Covington’s trash talk before the bout, stayed focused, and delivered a phenomenal performance.

Leon beat Colby via unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 49-46) in the most anticipated fight at UFC 296 in Las Vegas. With the triumph, Edwards successfully defended his title for a 2^nd time.

Leon dominated the fight from the 1^st minute on the octagon until the end, with Covington unable to keep his opponent’s tempo and Edwards punishing him during the whole bout with kicks.

“This bout was very special for me,” Edwards shared after the victory. “Convington used my dad’s death as a show. He used my dad’s murder as entertainment. It took a lot of composure to calm down, stay focused, and be prepared for the fight.

“After the press conference I went back stage, I was crying. Just from the rage.”
