Game 3 of second-round playoff ensued between Celtics and 76ers on Friday night with the former emerging as winners.
However, an unfortunate incident raised the concerns of many and that is when Celtics forward Grant Williams had his head stepped on by Joel Embiid after Williams found himself on the ground after a collision with his teammate Jaylen Brown as the were busy fighting for lose ball.
Right at that moments 76ers Embiid was also going for the same ball and in attempt to get it jumped high in the air. When he landed though, he unintentionally stepped on Williams’ head, leaving the later with bruised mouth and agonizing pain.
When Williams eventually returned to play after lengthy treatment on the sidelines, Embiid could be heard apologizing to his opponent.
“My bad,” Embiid said. “I tried to jump over … but ended up in the air.”
To which Williams responed with:
“It’s the playoffs brother. I know you was going for the ball. … This is what we battle for”
In the post-game Interview he also made no fuss about the incident saying:
“He was falling backwards and I’m just thankful he didn’t fully lean his weight on it because he definitely got me pretty badly, but then I think he felt that he landed on something, so he picked his foot up. Hurts a little bit.”
