Jonny Evans shared it has been “hard” to see Man United staff lose their jobs as part of the INEOS-led cuts.
Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to fire 250 people at Manchester United to try to reduce costs.
Several staff members were informed their jobs are at risk in the days leading up to the Red Devils’ preseason tour of the USA, and Jonny, who has been part of the team since the age of 9, has claimed it’s been a difficult time.
“A lot of people have lost their jobs in the past weeks; it’s been hard and difficult to process it,” Evans claimed.
“The new owners think that’s the best way for the team to improve. But, you know, it’s not been easy for everyone while doing so.”
Evans is in his 2nd period at Old Trafford after coming through the academy and making his 1st-team debut at 19 in 2007.
🗣 "It was stay here or probably retire."
