Everton will lodge a formal appeal with the Premier League over the club’s record 10-point penalty. On November 17 the club was sanctioned for non-compliance with financial rules over the past three years.
Once the relevant document has been filed, the review of the appeal will be handled by an independent committee made up of people who are different from those who decided on the penalty.
After deducting these 10 points from the asset, the team found itself in the relegation zone. Everton posted staggering financial losses of almost £372m over a three-year period – more than £250m above what Premier League guidelines allow the club to lose. The calculation of profit and sustainability of funds for the period in question was contested by the Premier League and it was found that the loss was 124.5 million pounds, which exceeds the threshold of 105 million pounds, Sky Sports informs.
