Arthur met with the franchise owner Arthur Blank and CEO Rich McKay after his team’s 48-17 defeat against the New Orleans Saints on the season-finale. Atlanta had a small chance to make it to the postseason with a victory but were outscored 31-0 during 1 period of the clash.
The manager finished 21-30 in his 3 years with the organization.
“Decisions like this are unpleasant and never feel alright,” Blank shared. “We are thankful to manager Smith and appreciate all the hard work and dedication he has put into our team over the last 3 seasons.
Arthur has created a good spirit in the Falcons, but the results are not good enough. After much analysis, we have decided the best way forward for Atlanta is to start the new season fresh with a new head coach.”
