61,000 fans visited the tennis complex in California
Indian Wells fans set a new daily record for attendance at the tournament. On Saturday, a total of more than 61,000 fans visited the tennis complex in California, topping the peak of 2019, organizers confirmed to Reuters.
Men’s and women’s No. 1 seed Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Šviontek, respectively, advanced after their victories on Saturday.
The Indian Wells tournament was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, and it was held in October rather than March a season later.
“We’re looking forward to a fantastic second week. We’re extremely excited to see record-breaking fans this year. It’s been a great first few days of the tournament, with fans enjoying some incredible matches,” organizers said.
