David Sanchez’s departure from Ferrari just one race into the F1 season is unlikely to go down well with the team’s drivers, given the Frenchman’s contribution to the creation of the team’s last two cars.
There is growing speculation in the Italian media that new Maranello boss Frédéric Vasseur has the full support of the company’s chief executive Benedoto Vigna and can build a team to “his taste and desire”.
In addition to Sanchez, Gino Rosato and Jonathan Jacobazi also left the team. Rosato, who was once the only one to try to convince Scuderia bosses not to part ways with Kimi Raikkonen, is expected to move to Aston Martin. Jacobazi, who is an important figure in Ferrari’s marketing department, will continue to work for the Italian company, but will no longer deal with Formula 1.
According to team sources, Vasseur has warned all important figures in the team that “the next mistakes are inadmissible” and wants to tighten the discipline.
