Ferrari is trying to sign Adrian Newey’s right-hand man at Red Bull – Pierre Wache, but the world champions in Formula 1 have offered him a new contract and the transfer is on the verge of failure. This information was leaked to the Italian media this week and will most likely have fatal consequences for Ferrari’s attempts to land Red Bull’s technical director.
Red Bull has already suffered one such blow – Aston Martin managed to bring in Red Bull’s head of aerodynamics, Dan Fallows, and the team’s performance this year has been impressive. But in Milton Keynes they have come to the conclusion that they cannot easily lose Newey’s most valuable and loyal assistants, and according to Wache, the team’s reaction is clearly adequate. There have also been reports that Ferrari and Red Bull have been successively making increasingly higher salary offers to Wache, and that Maranello are trying to include him in the deal for Laurent Mekis, who is set to take over the Alpha Tauri team at the end of the current Formula 1 season.
According to unconfirmed information, Red Bull offered Wache a new contract, the terms of which remain unknown, but it is assumed that the Frenchman has accepted it and will not leave the team.
