The leader in the standings Max Verstappen will start 6th after a huge slide in the 1st corner on his final run saw his car just miss the wall on the exit and he aborted his final lap.
The end of the qualifying means that the Dutch’s run of 8th pole positions finished, leaving him 1 short of taking the outright record for straight poles from Ayrton Senna.
Today’s result was Charles’ 3rd pole position at his home Grand Prix, but Leclerc is yet end on the podium at Monaco after having awful luck in previous races in Monaco.
In 2021, the Ferrari pilot sustained driveshaft failure on the way to the grid and in 2022, mistakes with his strategy left him 4th.
