“He was going through a crosswalk,” the Flames’ general manager Brad Treliving told reporters. “The good news – and the most important thing – is that Ras is doing well. He was transported by ambulance to Detroit Receiving Hospital.
“He won’t play tonight and we’ll take this real slow … Not anything that we’re overly concerned about. But he got hit, so we’re going to see how things go over the next 24 hours and go from there.
“I don’t want any speculation out there. There was no alcohol involved.”
The 26-year-old the Swedish iron man last missed a contest on Nov. 11, 2018, when the Flames played on the road against the San Jose Sharks.
Since then, Andersson has laced up in a staggering 350 consecutive games, including 323 regular season tilts and 27 playoff contests.
He is only about one-third of the way to the NHL’s all-time record for consecutive regular games played (1,034 and counting), which Phil Kessel of the Vegas Golden Knights currently holds.
Kessel broke Keith Yandle’s record of 989 straight games in October 2022.
Andersson, who leads the team with four game-winning goals this season, is second on the Flames in assists (27) and fourth in points (34), is one of just five active players with a current streak of at least 300 straight regular-season contests.
