The star of the show was undoubtedly Owen Tippet with the 24-year scoring a hat-trick for the Philadelphia team for the first time in his career. With this achievement the promising youngster took his goal tally to 21 for the season.
“It’s pretty cool,” Tippett said. “It’s Nice to get rewarded.”
“He steps on the ice, he’s dangerous,” Flyers coach John Tortorella said of Tippet’s performance.
“We knew he was a good player. I think he thinks he’s a good player. I think he has a lot to learn still, but he’s made tremendous strides.”
James van Riemsdyk and Joel Farabee both scored, as Kevin Hayers and Tony DeAngelo each had two assists to help struggling Philadelphi side win only for the 4th time in the last 14 matches.
Victor Olofsson scored both goals for the Sabres, who now have lost 8 out of their last 11 games to further hamper their chances of playoff.
Buffalo entered the game six points off a wild-card spot and needed to leapfrog three teams.
