Olden Polynice and Byron Scott talked about last summer's moment when James worked out in Clippers gym

LeBron James is getting closer to retirement and speculation continues to swirl around what the NBA’s all-time leading scorer will do next.

Last season, James grabbed the headlines when he was spotted working out at the Los Angeles Clippers’ facility before opting into his $52.6 million player option with the Lakers. The sight of the Lakers superstar on the rival’s court exploded the media, and it remains a talking point even today.

Former NBA players Olden Polynice and Byron Scott weighed in on the moment during Scott’s Fast Break podcast. Polynice didn’t hold back, suggesting LeBron knew exactly what he was doing. “I don’t want to throw the word of the day out there, which is narcissistic, but it’s along those lines. He has to stay talked about, he has to stay in the media, that’s all it is. He knew what he was doing.”

Polynice also said this decision was calculated move to stir headlines. “He’s like, ‘I’m gonna go over to the Clippers facility, even though we have our own facility. Even though I’m LeBron James. I can get into any facility I want in the world, right?’” he said.

Scott admitted he was just as surprised. “It did trip me out when you said he’s working out at the Clippers facility. I was like, ‘What?’ Because if you turn that around, I guarantee you Kawhi Leonard couldn’t work out at the Lakers’ facility.”
