Nasville start needed just 35 seconds in the extra period to bring the win home

Filip Forsberg clinched his third overtime goal of the season just 35 seconds into the extra period, securing a thrilling 6-5 victory for the Nashville Predators against the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night.

Despite facing a two-goal deficit, the Predators demonstrated resilience and secured their sixth win in seven games. Forsberg, who leads the team with 16 goals, played a pivotal role as Nashville extended their perfect record to 5-0 in games that required extra time.

Forsberg’s overtime heroics weren’t new, following up on his Tuesday night performance against Philadelphia. This time, he seized control of the puck at Nashville’s defensive blue line, navigating all the way to the slot before delivering the decisive overtime shot—the lone attempt in the extra session.

Roman Josi and Ryan O’Reilly contributed significantly, each tallying a goal and two assists for Nashville. Additionally, Jusso Parssinen and Forsberg both notched a goal and an assist, while Tyson Barire and Jeremy Lauzon found the back of the net. Kevin Lankinen made 25 saves to anchor the Predators’ victory.

Carolina’s effort was evident as Stefan Noesen and Martin Necas both recorded a goal and an assist. Tony DeAngelo, Jalen Chatfield, and Sebastian Aho also contributed goals, with Michael Bunting tallying two assists. Antti Raanta made 24 saves for the Hurricanes, who played on the heels of a challenging 2-4 road trip.
