Conor Garland netted two goals to lead the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-3 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday. Quinn Hughes and Brock Boeser each contributed a goal and an assist, with J.T. Miller adding three assists. Arturs Silovs made 20 saves for the Canucks.
Jack Eichel scored twice for Vegas, while Noah Hanifin recorded a goal and an assist. Logan Thompson stopped 26 shots for the Golden Knights.
Vancouver holds the top spot in the Pacific Division, five points ahead of the Edmonton Oilers, while Vegas occupies the Western Conference’s second wild card position.
Special teams played a crucial role, with both teams capitalizing on the power play. Vancouver went 2 for 3, while Vegas went 2 for 4.
In the closing minutes, Vegas pulled their goalie for an extra skater but narrowly missed tying the game as Elias Pettersson’s clearing attempt sailed wide of the empty net.
Despite an early 2-0 deficit, Vancouver rallied with goals from Garland, Hughes, and Boeser to take the lead, capped off by Garland’s second goal of the night late in the second period.
