Giannis Antetokounmpo reveals that it makes him happy that LeBron James complimented him by sharing that the Milwaukee Bucks leader could have scored 250 points in a match if he had been part of the league in the 1970s.
But the Greek superstar claimed it isn’t really a fair comparison.
“I appreciate what LeBron said, but you can’t compare different eras,” the Bucks superstar revealed after his team’s 116-107 defeat against the NY Knicks. “It is not fair. If I competed during that time, how everybody practiced and what everybody’s style was, but now it’s a different time and things have evolved.”
“The game of basketball from that period has nothing to do with the basketball that we are playing today,” Giannis added. “My wish is that I can score 250 points in 2025, but it is not a realistic thing, and that’s the same way with comparing nowadays and the past. I believe that I would play like everybody else in the NBA during the ‘70s.
“I really appreciate that LeBron James complimented me. It is always great to hear positive things about yourself from 1 of the best basketballers in the NBA.”
Giannis on LeBron saying he'd score 250 points in a 1970s game:
"It's wrong take…probably more 275 😆 I'm joking. Great compliment. But I don't like comparing eras. It's not fair. If I played in the 70s, how everybody practiced & played, we'd play same way…The game evolves…" pic.twitter.com/p3rtCK38nj
