The New York Giants dismissed manager Brian Daboll today, after the organization blew another double-digit lead yesterday against the Bears.
It was the 2nd time in the current campaign that New York lost after leading by at least ten points with under 4 minutes until the end of the match. They became just the 2nd franchise since the league merger to do that, as the Seahawks did the same 21 years ago.
“In the last few years, our results were disappointing, and we do not have the ambitions that we have for this team,” New York co-owner John Mara and Steve Tisch announced today. “We know that our supporters are not happy, and we will do everything in our power to improve the organization.”
Assistant manager and OC Mike Kafka will serve as the team’s interim coach. Mike was a finalist for multiple managerial jobs in the past 2 seasons.
Joe Schoen will keep his post as the GM of the Giants and will have the task of finding the next permanent head coach of the team. New York won only 2 of their 10 matches in the NFL this campaign.
