In his first career second-round playoff game, Gilgeous-Alexander efficiently contributed with 8-of-19 shooting from the field and an impressive 11-of-13 from the free-throw line as the Thunder made history as the youngest team ever to win a conference semifinal game, signaling their potential and resilience.
Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic led the Mavericks’ efforts with 19 points each, but it wasn’t enough. Despite Dallas narrowing the gap to one point early in the third quarter, the Thunder responded with great play to secure the victory.
Chet Holmgren contributed significantly with 19 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks, while Lou Williams added 18 points and Aaron Wiggins provided a spark off the bench with 16 points, including 12 in the second quarter.
Oklahoma City capitalized on Dallas’ turnovers, scoring 22 points off 16 Mavericks’ turnovers. Additionally, the Thunder’s solid defense limited the Mavericks to just 39.3 percent shooting, while Oklahoma City shot 44.9 percent from the field.
With Game 2 set for Thursday in Oklahoma City, the Thunder aim to maintain their momentum and extend their series lead, while the Mavericks seek to bounce back and even the series.
