A late goal secured the 3 points for the home side in the derby.

Girona won the Catalan derby against Barcelona 2-1 at Estadio Municipal de Montilivi with a late goal, and the new leader in LaLiga is Real Madrid with a 2-point advantage at the top.

The 1st half-finished without goals, but Barcelona had a golden chance to score as they received a penalty in the extra time. However, Lamine Yamal missed it as his shot struck the right post.

Despite that, Hansi Flick’s side scored the 1st goal in the clash in the 60th minute as Jules Kounde assisted Pau Cubarsi for the opening goal in the match.

Girona only needed 2 minutes to answer and tied the result again as Vladyslav Vanat assisted Thomas Lemar in the box.

When everyone thought that Barcelona would be the team to score and win the derby in the final minutes of the match, the opposite happened.

Fran Beltran scored the winning goal in the 86th minute from inside the box and secured the triumph in the derby for the home side.

Joel Roca received a red card in the 99th minute, but it was too late for Barcelona to try to score with 1 more player on the pitch, as seconds later the referee blew the whistle for the end of the game.
