Memphis Grizzlies’ controversial star Ja Morant will be sidelined at least 3 weeks because of an ulnar collateral ligament sprain in his left elbow, the organization revealed today, which means that he will be unable to play through the February 5th trade deadline.
Memphis has been entertaining trade offers for the guard since the beginning of January, but now it seems very unlikely that a trade would happen after the Ja’s injury.
However, the interest in Morant was not huge, as the main reason for that was the injuries that Ja often suffers. He has appeared in a total of only 79 matches since the beginning of the 2023-24 campaign because of suspensions and several injuries.
The guard has averaged almost 20 points and over 8 assists while shooting career worsts of 41.0% from the floor and below 24% from the 3-point line in 20 matches in the current campaign. Morant has 2 years and 87 million dollars remaining on his current deal beyond the current campaign after Memphis declined to engage the guard in extension talks in the past offseason.
