Erling Haaland will be available for Manchester City’s game against Southampton on Saturday, said head-coach Pep Guardiola.
The Norwegian striker picked up a groin injury just before the international break, which sidelined him for his team’s 4-1 victory over Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.
Guardiola confirmed that the 22-year old will be in the team’s squad, which is great news for the Citizens, as they will be facing a crunch Champions League 1/4 final against Bayern Munich next week.
“(He) trained in the last two days, really good. (He) will be ready,” Guardiola said at a pre-match press conference.
“Bayern Munich is the last thought. It’s Southampton. Premier League is every day, every week,” he added.
Haaland has scored a remarkable 42 goals this season across all competitions. He needs two more to equal the record for most goals scored by a player in England (held by Ruud van Nistelroy and Mo Salah). In his last two outing for City the Norwegian managed to bag a staggering 8 goals in total, including a memorable, record equalling 5 goals in the Champions League.
Manchester City will be looking to close the gap to League leaders Arsenal in their quest of a third successive title.
