The seven-time world champion is surprised by the information in the media and says it doesn't help the team

Lewis Hamilton has addressed the growing speculation linking former Red Bull boss Christian Horner with a move to Ferrari, calling the rumors “distracting” ahead of this weekend’s United States Grand Prix in Austin.

Horner, who officially left Red Bull earlier this month after reaching a settlement with the team, has been heavily linked with Ferrari in recent days. Reports claim Scuderia president John Elkann is “really focused” on bringing him in as team principal, despite recently extending Frederic Vasseur’s contract.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Hamilton was quick to dismiss the talk and reaffirmed his support for Vasseur.

“I don’t know where the rumors have come from, so I can’t really shed much light on that,” the seven-time world champion said. “But it’s a little bit distracting for us as a team. The team has made it clear where they stand in terms of re-signing Fred.”

Hamilton added that both he and Vasseur remain committed to Ferrari’s long-term project: “Fred and I and the whole team are working really hard on the future for the team. These things naturally aren’t helpful. I know everybody back at the factory is working incredibly hard and focused, and these sorts of rumors can sometimes be distracting.”

The Brit emphasized that Ferrari’s attention is fixed on development for next season rather than off-track speculation. “For me, it’s about trying to keep the focus on the goal that’s in front of us and building on next year’s car,” he said. “Just making sure we’re sailing in the right direction.”
