Hannah Green lifts LA Championship trophy

Hannah Green came out victorious in a three-way playoff and then made par on the second extra hole to clinch the JM Eagle LA Championship at Wilshere Country Club on Sunday.

In a dramatic finish Green made bridie for 2-under 69 and join Aditi Ashok and Xiyu Lin for the final playoff.

Ashok and Lin had the edge at first, having closed with 67 each and posting at 9-under 275. Green, however, birdied the first  playoff hole on the par-3 3 18th.

At the second extra hole Lin blasted it out at 18 feet and that gave Green the golden opportunity, which she took by tapping in from two feet for her first LPGA win since September 2019.

“It’s been a long few years,” the emotional Green said. “I was playing well last year but getting across the line’s been really difficult. I’m proud of myself. I’m really happy.”
