American gymnast Jordan Chiles has expressed her will to reclaim the individual bronze medal she won at the Paris Olympics, which was later stripped due to a procedural rule violation.
Chiles was devastated by the decision, which saw the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rule in favor of Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu, awarding her the bronze after the U.S. team’s inquiry into the floor event results was filed four seconds past the one-minute deadline.

“I have no words. This decision feels unjust and comes as a significant blow not just to me but to everyone who has championed my journey,” Chiles wrote in an Instagram post.
She also condemned the racially driven attacks she has faced on social media since the ruling, stating, “To add to the heartbreak, the unprompted racially driven attacks on social media are wrong and extremely hurtful. I’ve poured my heart and soul into this sport and I am so proud to represent my culture and my country.”
Despite the setback, the 23-year-old remains committed to seeking justice, expressing hope that the authorities will ultimately reverse the decision. “I am now confronted with one of the most challenging moments of my career,” Chiles added. “I will approach this challenge as I have others—and I will make every effort to ensure that justice is done. I believe that at the end of this journey, the people in control will do the right thing.”
