Gabe Vincent led the way for the Miami team with career-high 29 points, while Duncan Robinson added another 22 points to his tally.
Caleb Martin scored 18 points, Jimmy Butler had 16, as Bam Adebayo and Max Strus rounded off the list of Heat players with double figures – 13 and 10 respectively.
Jayson Tatum scored 14 for hapless Boston, who never got going, while Jaylen Brown added another 12. Grant Williams and Payton Pritchard also scored 12 points each.
The Heat find themselves in prime position as they only require one win to qualify for the NBA finals. And history is on their side as every team that has bagged the first three games in the playoff in the best-of-seven format has managed to go through.
Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday night.
