Trey Hendrickson revealed today that he won’t compete for the Cincinnati Bengals in this campaign under his current contract, which is an apparent escalation of his dispute with the franchise.
Cincinnati’s star pass rusher appeared at the organization’s voluntary workouts today but not in playing kit and talked with the media 24 hours after he announced that the Bengals has cut off deal discussions with him.
The pass rusher shared that he doesn’t like this move from the team and that things had become “personal.” Despite that, he believes that the situation with the organization can still be fixed.
Trey Hendrickson today to reporters: “If I sat here with four sacks, they’d want a pay cut and some money back. … I’m not going to apologize for the rates being paid to defensive ends in the National Football League."

Hendrickson claimed that he felt the need to speak with the reporters after his boss, Zac Taylor, told him that he would be fined if he didn’t attend the organization’s 3-day mandatory minicamp, which isn’t scheduled to start until next month. According to the pass rusher, that means that the franchise doesn’t intend to do anything about his contract during that period.
Trey is entering the final season of his deal and is coming off his best campaign in the league. The Bengals star led the NFL with 17.5 sacks in the past campaign and was named to the Associated Press All-Pro team.
