The New Jersey Devils became only the six team in the NHL’s history to achieve 21 wins in their first 26 contests after crushing last-place Chicago Blackhawks 3-0 on Tuesday.

Defenseman Dougie Hamilton produced one of the best individual performances of the season, having a goal and two assists and Vitek Vanecek made 24 saves for his second shutout.

Coach Lindy Ruff’s team improved their record to 21-4-1 (43 points) as they lead the NHL though the quarter mark.
Nico Hischier scored his 11th goal and Jesper Brattscored netted his 10th while Jack Hughes had two outstanding assists for the Devils.
Arvid Soderblom made 26 saves for the slumping Blackhawks, who are 1-9-1 in their last 11. They were also shut out by the New York Islanders 3-0 on Sunday.
The Devils host New York Islanders on Friday while Blackhawks return home to face Winnipeg Jets.
