Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds, who co-owns English soccer team Wrexham AFC, can add another sports club to his portfolio.
Wrexham managed to gain promotion and entered professional football. To celebrate the achievement, Reynolds plans to invest another £800 million in the acquisition of an NHL team.
According to the Ottawa Sun, Reynolds is willing to pay 795 million to buy the Ottawa Senators. The investment is much more serious in comparison to Reynolds’ deal for Wrexham that was £2m.
The NHL team finished sixth in the Eastern Conference and was sold following the death of former owner Eugene Melnyk. If the deal goes through, for the first time in 20 years the Ottawa Senators will not be owned by a member of the Melnyk family.
