The team boss said the Mexican has "a great relationship with the team"

Sergio Perez has enjoyed a difficult 2023 season after a strong start, which saw him almost level on points with Max Verstappen after 4 rounds.

However, since then it has been downhill for the Mexican, who has struggled to keep up with his vastly superior teammate and has faltered an enormous 226 points behind him.

This has caused many speculation as to whether he is still motivated and some have suggested he will retire from the sport.

Team boss Christian Horner has snubbed all of the rumors, stating that Perez is fully committed to the team and has a great relationship with them.

“First of all, there’s absolutely no plan of any retirement!” Horner commented.

“Sergio has a great relationship with the team, a strong relationship with his team mate, and we want to see him finish second in the championship, which is something we’ve never achieved before – to have a one-two.”
