P.J. Washington was the star man as he bagged home 43 points, a new career-high, to help his team en route to victory.
Most of his points came in the final period, where he really stepped on the gas and scored 22 of his 43 just in that final quarter. 8 out 11 field goals, along with 3 out of 5 3-pointers also came towards the end.
“Credit to my teammates getting me in the right spots,” Washington said after the match. “I was just trying to be aggressive with the shots that I did take.”
The defeat might prove to be costly for Oklahoma as they were looking to strenghten their position in the Western Conference. They lacked some key figures, but that would be no consolation given their high ambitions.
“I was most disappointed in our defense, especially in the second half, really from the first five minutes all the way through,” Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said. “We’ve got to look in the mirror on that.”
