Nico Hulkenberg is set to make a significant move from Haas to Sauber in 2025, as confirmed by both teams on Friday.
Having joined Haas in 2023 following a three-season hiatus, Hulkenberg has emerged as one of the standout performers on the grid this season. The German driver’s departure from Haas marks the end of a fruitful partnership, with Hulkenberg set to embark on a new chapter with Sauber on a multi-season deal, just one year before the team transitions into the Audi outfit in 2026.

Team principal Ayao Komatsu expressed gratitude to Hulkenberg for his invaluable contributions during his tenure at Haas, highlighting his role as a team player and the positive impact of his experience and feedback on the team’s performance, particularly evident in the VF-24’s performance this season.
With Hulkenberg’s departure, Sauber faces a reshuffle in its driver lineup, with Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu expected to part ways with the team at the end of the season. Sources suggest that Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz remains a frontrunner to join Hulkenberg at Sauber next season.
Meanwhile, Haas is anticipated to fill the void left by Hulkenberg with Ferrari reserve driver Oliver Bearman, whose impressive performance as Sainz’s substitute at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix has garnered attention and positioned him as a strong candidate for the seat.
