Jesse Puljujarvi’s time in Raleigh is most certainly finished.
Carolina Hurricanes decided not to make a qualifying offer to the restricted free agent, and he will automatically become an unrestricted free agent in July.
Puljujarvi had health problems as he underwent double hip surgery, and when he is able to play hockey again is still unclear.
Carolina acquired the forward a few months ago in February in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers for the winger Patrik Puistola.
Puljujarvi played 17 matches for the Hurricanes. He provided 2 assists. He also appeared in 7 playoff matches as he had 1 assist in the postseason.
Puljujarvi was picked with the 4th overall selection at the 2016 NHL Draft by Edmonton. He spent more than 5 years with the Oilers in the league and played 317 matches for the Canadian franchise his best season was 2020-2021 when he notched 15 goals.
Jesse scored 51 goals in his career and gave 63 assists in 334 clashes.
There is word that Jesse Puljujarvi recently underwent double hip surgery and is facing a lengthy recovery. He won’t receive a qualifying offer from the #hurricanes before tomorrow’s deadline and will become an unrestricted free agent. @NorthStarBet @TSN_Sports
