The Serb believes other have to decide the GOAT debate

Novak Djokovic stated it is not up to him to decide whether he is the greatest of all time after clinching his record-breaking 23rd Grand Slam trophy.

With his success on Sunday against Casper Ruud, the Serb moved one clear of Rafael Nadal and currently sits at the top.

However, the 36-year-old was humble in his estimation of the GOAT status.

“I don’t want to enter in these discussions. I’m writing my own history,” Djokovic said.

“I don’t want to say I am the greatest. I leave those discussions to someone else.”

Djokovic has been enmeshed in a thrilling three-way battle with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in the last decade or so. With Nadal set to retire in 2024 and Federer already retired, the Serb may well be on course of extending his title advantage over them.

“It’s amazing to know that I’m ahead of both of them in Grand Slams, but at the same time everyone writes their own history,” Djokovic added.
