Spanish third seed Carlos Alcaraz progressed to the French Open last 16 with a commanding straight-set win against American 27th seed Sebastian Korda. Despite concerns over an arm injury, Alcaraz displayed resilience and skill to secure a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 victory in an engaging night-session match at Roland Garros.
Alcaraz expressed satisfaction with his performance. “It was a really good match, I think I played really well – much better than my previous matches,” said the 21-year-old. “I wanted to feel myself on court – I think I did that pretty well.”

In the first set, Alcaraz pounced to break Korda’s serve for a 5-4 lead and then confidently held serve to move ahead. The second set was equally competitive, with both players exchanging early breaks. Alcaraz eventually clinched the tie-break at the second attempt with a powerful forehand winner.
The third set saw Alcaraz’s confidence and quality come to the fore, as he broke Korda’s serve for a 3-1 lead. Korda managed to save two more break points at 4-1, but Alcaraz’s momentum was unstoppable.
Alcaraz, who achieved a career-best run to the semi-finals last year, will face either American 15th seed Ben Shelton or Canadian 21st seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in the fourth round.
