Indianapolis QB Anthony Richardson was held out of today’s final offseason training due to right shoulder soreness, but the 2nd-year player and manager Shane Steichen both insisted the choice was based only on precaution.
The Colts quarterback suffered an AC joint sprain in the past campaign that required campaign-ending procedure, but he healed swiftly and has been Indianapolis’ starting QB throughout this offseason. Anthony was seen with trainers yesterday addressing the shoulder before returning on the field for a short period of time and then was replaced by reserve Joe Flacco in the final moments of the practice.
“‘I have been experiencing soreness since I began throwing,” Richardson revealed. “It is not easy listening to the trainers sharing, ‘No, you have to rest today.’ But it is for my best. So, I’m just doing what they are told me.”
Anthony added that it is only a limited injury and that he can be at his best in several days.
#Colts HC Shane Steichen on Anthony Richardson (arm soreness):
“Rest assured, if we played on Sunday, he’d be starting. He just had some soreness in his arm, so we’re just, precautionary reasons, just held him out today.”
