Inter won against Atletico Madrid 1-0 at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in the 1st leg in a matchup from the 1/8 finals of the Champions League as who will advance will be decided in the 2nd leg in Madrid.

Despite the home side controlling the tempo in the 1st half, the Spanish side had the greatest chance to score in the 1st 45 minutes, but Samuel Lino missed it in the 13th minute.

Marko Arnautovic replaced Marcus Thuram at halftime as the French attacker was visible in pain in the final minutes of the 1st half. Arnautovic had the chance to score the opening goal in the 49th minute, but he missed it.

Samuel Lino missed another huge chance for Atletico Madrid in the 56th minute. The next huge chance was the Italian side as again Marko Arnautovic had a perfect opportunity to score but shot over the crossbar from inside the box.

Inter dominance continued, but Jan Oblak saved Lautaro Martinez’s header in the 77th minute, and the result remained 0-0. However, only 2 minutes later, Marko Arnautovic finally scored in the 79th minute as he shot a rebound from close range.

However, Atletico Madrid players refused to give up but Samuel Lino in the 81st minute and Alvaro Morata in the 88th missed another great chances for Simeone’s side.
