Inter managed to get third win in a row in Serie A, beating Atalanta 2-1 away to keep their top spot in the standings.
The Nerrazurri lost Benjamin Pavard to a knee injury in the middle of the first half, but just minutes later his substitute Mateo Darmian won a penalty that Hakan Calhanoglu converted to get his team ahead.
After the break Inter continued to push for a second goal and got it in the 57 minute. Mkhitaryan found Lautaro Martinez at the edge of the box and the Argentine goalscorer made no mistake finding the corner to make it 2-0.
Atalanta pulled one back almost instantly in the 61 minute through Scamacca, who received the ball from Lookman, but the Bergamo side couldn’t do much more and had to leave the field empty-handed. With the win Inter now have 28 points – five more than Juventus, who have a game in hand. Atalanta stay fifth with 19 points.
