Inter Miami and Al Ahly ended up with a 0-0 draw in the opening match of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, kicking off Group A with a tense, action-filled stalemate.
Despite the lack of goals, both sides created quality chances. Al Ahly nearly struck early, as Emam Ashour forced a save from Inter Miami’s veteran goalkeeper Óscar Ustari in the 8th minute.

He continued his heroics later in the half, denying Achraf Dari’s close-range header in the 33rd minute before saving a penalty from Trezeguet in the 43rd to keep the Egyptian giants off the scoresheet.
Inter Miami nearly grabbed the win late, with Fafa Picault’s powerful 85th-minute header, set up by Lionel Messi, being tipped over the bar by Al Ahly keeper Mohamed Elshenawy.
In a dramatic finish, Messi hit the woodwork in the 96th minute with a curling long-range shot, and Maximiliano Falcón’s header in the 98th was deflected just over the crossbar as Inter Miami pressed for a winner.
The result leaves both teams with a point to start the tournament. Inter Miami next face Porto on Thursday in Atlanta, while Al Ahly will prepare to meet the same Portuguese side in the final group match.
