The contract will keep Messi at the MLS club until the 2025 season, following his departure from PSG last month.
The inclusion of the Argentinian is a huge boost for David Beckham-led team as his presence is expected to skyrocket soccer popularity not only in the city, but the whole country.
Messi announced that he will be joining the MLS a month ago, but only now the deal was made official.
The 7-time Ballon d’Or winner is expected to make his debut on July 21 as he will be joined by former long-time Barcelona colleague Sergio Busquets, who also headed to Miami.
The team currently sits at the bottom of the MLS, 11 points adrift from a playoff spot and they strongly believe their fortunes will turn around once Messi arrives.
