The Nerazzurri were left without first-choice goalkeeper after Andre Onana completed his transfer for Manchester United.
Sommer was brought to fill in the gap and take the Cameroonian’s place.
The veteran Swiss played a pivotal role in Bayern’s last season as he had to step in for the second half of the campaign in the place of injured Manuael Neuer.
The 34-year-old underlined that his style of goalkeeping fits Inter’s requirements and style of play.
“That’s my style of goalkeeping,” he said. “I like to be a good option for the team.”
Sommer is also Switzerland’s first-choice goalkeeper and he has 83 caps to his name.
