Kyle Palmieri and Brock Nelson each scored and assisted, and the Patrick Roy-led NY Islanders secured 1 of the 2 remaining postseason spots in the East with a 4-1 triumph against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Kyle MacLean also notched for the NHL franchise from the Big Apple as the team secured 3rd place in the Metropolitan Division and earned their 5th playoff berth in 6 years. Semyon Varamov stopped 23 shots for his 5th consecutive victory and helped the organization extend its point streak to 8 matches (7-0-1).

The series was also evidence GM Lou Lamoriello made the right call when he dismissed Lane Lambert on January with the Islanders’ campaign slipping away after losing 4 consecutive and posting a 2-6-2 stretch during their performance on the ice was very bad.
Timo Meier notched for New Jersey, who missed the postseason a campaign after posting an organization-record 112 points. Jake Allen stopped 14 shots in the Devils’ final match of the campaign.
