After less than 2 campaigns, Lane Lambert is no longer the manager of NY Islanders, with the franchise sharing today that Patrick Roy will replace him at the helm.
#Isles News: New York Islanders President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Lou Lamoriello announced today that Lane Lambert has been relieved of his coaching responsibilities. Patrick Roy has been named Head Coach of the New York Islanders.

Dismissing Lambert comes as the organization has struggled to find consistency while remaining in the battle for a postseason spot. The NHL team from the Big Apple (19-15-11) began today 2 points behind the Detroit Red Wings for the final wild-card position in the East Conference.
Even though New York is only 2 points behind the playoff spot, they have been defeated in 4 consecutive matches, which is, at the moment, the league’s longest active losing streak. The franchise has only 2 victories in their last 10 matches.
Appointing Patrick sees the Hall of Fame goalie return to the National Hockey League bench for the 1st time since the 2015-16 campaign when he led the Colorado Avalanche for 3 years. He triumphed with the Jack Adams Award in his 1st campaign after he led Colorado to the postseason, but failed to do it in his next 2 seasons.
