The 28-year-old Tunisisn, who si the highest-ranked African and Arab tennis player in WTA and Atp rankings history, made the announcement in a social media post but did not give details as to when the surgery took place or what it was related to.
“In order to take care of my health situation. My medical team have decided that I need to get a minor surgery in order to be able to be back on the courts and perform well,” Jabeur said.
“I will have to retire from Doha and Dubai and this is breaking my heart. I would like to say sorry to all the fans out there in the Middle East that waited for this reunion. I promise I will come back to you stronger and healthy.”
Jabeur’s withdrawal is a huge blow to organisers in Doha and Dubai as the Tunisian, who reached the finals of Winbledon and the US Open last year, is a big draw in th Middle East
