The Jaguars will sign the ex-49ers defensive lineman to a 3-year deal.

DT Arik Armstead is inking a 3-year, 51 million dollar contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

San Francisco cut Arik yesterday when he and the franchise failed to work out a restructured deal.

The defensive lineman is coming off a campaign in which he appeared in 12 matches with 27 tackles and 5 sacks for the NFC champion.

Armstead also is coming off a torn meniscus in his right knee, a problem he sustained in a December 3rd victory against the Philadelphia Eagles. He finished that match after sustaining the problem in the 2nd play, but he didn’t return to the field after that until January 20th for the NFC divisional round victory vs. the Green Bay Packers at the Bay.

Arik played in all 3 of the 49ers’ postseason matches, posting 11 tackles, a sack, 7 QB pressures, and 1 fumble recovery. Arik admitted in the past month that while the knee procedure will take time for him to recover, he believes that he will be able to return at the beginning of August when training camps will start.
