The American has been through tough times, being sidelined with a knee injury for a very long time, dropping down from 16 to 1,056 in the ranking.
“I’m pretty happy with the way I came out, handled my emotions, stayed true to my game plan and I was able to come out with a win,” Brady said.
“Tennis is a part of who I am and I hope I never lose that. I’m happy to just be out here competing with the best.”
Brady next opponent will be Madison Keys.
The former Australian Open finalist hasn’t stepped on the court since August 18 2021, when she suffered a torn plantar fascia in a match against Jelena Ostapenko.
