While working in these positions in the league, West teams triumphed with 8 championships, and he won 2 times National Basketball Association Executive of the Year (1994-95, Los Angeles; 2003-04, Memphis).

Jerry, who also triumphed with the title of a basketballer, was known as the architect of the Lakers in the 1980s and 1990s during his 18 years as GM, as he had a key role in Kobe Bryant choosing Los Angeles.
