Less than 24 hours after sustaining a crushing defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the New York Jets have dismissed DC Steve Wilks.
Passing-game coordinator Chris Harris will be the interim defensive coordinator and will call plays until a pernament replacement is hired.
New York allowed 82 points in their last 2 matches, including a 48-20 defeat yesterday against the Jaguars, in which the team conceded scores on 8 of the 1st 9 series.
Jacksonville QB Trevor Lawrence became the 5th footballer in the Super Bowl era with 5 TD passes and 1 rushing TD in a match.
The franchise from the Big Apple had no answers, managing 2 QB hits and no sacks in a match in which Steve called for blitzes on 10 of Trevor’s 32 pass attempts. But the Jags quarterback went 7-for-10 for 150 yards and TDs vs. the blitz/
Steve was out of the league for the 2024 campaign after serving 1 campaign as the 49ers’ DC. Wilks was dismissed in February 2024, several days after San Francisco’s defeat vs. the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII. Before that, he was Lions DC from 2021 to 2024.
Coach Glenn announced he relieved DC Steve Wilks of his duties.
