Denver’s 112-103 victory over their division rivals Blazers was spearheaded by Nikola Jokic, who scored 29 points. Jamal Murray contributed 21 points and showcased an impressive 10-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio. Young talents Christian Braun and Peyton Watson played pivotal roles in the late-game surge, securing the Nuggets’ second win against their division rivals in just 48 hours.
In addition to Jokic and Murray, four other players achieved double-digit scores, with rookie Peyton Watson contributing 10 of his 12 points during the Nuggets’ fourth-quarter onslaught. This performance improved Denver’s home record to an impressive 21-4.
While the Nuggets managed to keep a close margin throughout the game, they only took the lead in the final seconds of the third quarter when Jokic’s finger-roll layup broke an 84-84 tie.
Despite strong performances from Portland’s Deandre Ayton (27 points) and Anfernee Simons (26 points), the Blazers struggled to maintain their lead. They were ahead 84-75 with 4:17 left in the third quarter, but a scoring drought ensued until Kris Murray’s goaltended basket cut Denver’s lead to 91-86 with 10:44 remaining. During this crucial period, the Blazers missed multiple shots, including six from long range, and committed three turnovers, allowing the Nuggets to capitalize on a 16-0 run and secure the 112-103 victory.
