The England's captain was heavily booed in a friendly game because of his move to Saudi Arabia

Jordan Henderson was heavily booed by England’s supporters during a friendly game against Australia.

The 33-year-old was captaining Gareth Southgate’s team, but was shown no mercy by angry supporters, who disapprove his surprising move to Saudi Arabia in the summer.

However, the ex-Liverpool man has taken it with dignity and pointed out that he will continue playing for England despite the negativity.

“It’s not nice, your own fans booing. I love playing for England,” he said.

“I have done for many years, that’s why I’m still here. I still want to play for England for as long as I possibly can and give everything for the team, for my country.”

Henderson made a shock £12m switch from Liverpool to Al-Ettifaq and one of the main reasons he has pointed out is support for LGBTQ+ community.
